The Scotch Move

The Scotch dribbling move is a deceitful way to pass the ball forward or to nutmeg an opponent. It's a bit tricky to learn. However, once you've practiced it a bit, you can use it in games to spice up your forward-moving dribbles and impress the crowd. Read on to learn how to do the Scotch dribbling move.

1. Place the ball on the ground in front of you.

2.Begin dribbling the ball forward with controlled touches. You can use whichever part of your foot to control the ball that you like, as long as it stays close.

3. Hop briefly onto your right leg.

4. Step in front of the ball with your left foot and punch it backwards with your heel.

5.Tap the ball forward and behind your left leg with the inside of your right foot. Try to put enough pace on the ball so that you need to speed up your run to catch it.

6. Resume dribbling

Tips & Warnings

* Turn your hips at a 45-degree angle away from the ball. This makes punching it forward with the inside of your foot a lot easier.
* Try starting the move with your left leg instead of your right. It's always a good idea to develop coordination and control with both of your legs, not just your dominant one.
* Combine the hop, backheel and sidefoot tap into one smooth motion. Try to get a feel for the Scotch move as a whole, instead of focusing solely on the parts. This will allow you to perform the move under defensive pressure in game situations, when you might not have time to think about each of the touches.
