To help the process of training your field vision you may try and play in a different position, this will give you tactically a better understanding of where a team mate may be and overall help become a more complete player.
Attributes that you work to better your field vision:
Skills
The great players around the world who have great vision (Riquelme) also have a great technique which enables them concentrate more on the off the ball runs team mates are making, then having their heads down looking at the ball. All the great dribblers of the world all have a great technique, this allows them to get their head up and look for passes. Being able to get your head up while dribbling also has another benefit of making your dummies more effective when dribbling, due to the fact you have your head up, this portrays that you have an option to pass too. In contrast if you have head down a defender can assume that you don't have or know your passing options. The better your first touch is, being able bring the ball under control quickly gives you time to get you head up and pick a pass.
Understanding Of Team-Mates
Knowledge of how your team mates play and communication is a big factor when making a trying to make a crucial pass. This is pretty obvious, the better you know and communicate with your team mates the less time you spend looking around for them. example: the right back gets the ball, with the oppositions left midfielder and striker closing him down. But the right back knows he can either roll the ball in his right midfielders feet or hit the striker coming short to pick the ball up or the striker giving an option for a long ball to get out of trouble. simple options like this is what makes great teams.
Tactical Understanding
View the game in terms of positional movement. Learn, locate and predict areas and positions where the opposition & team mates are coming from or going into. Having a good understanding of firstly the formation your team is playing and knowing the roles the of your team mates, will let you know where your team mates are, and where they can and should be. Equally knowing the formation of the opposition you can predict where you will be closed down when you have the ball, and also know where team mates might have space so you can play them the ball.
Awareness
All the good players have a great sense of awareness. awareness consists of knowing everything that going on during the game, from what runs team mates are making, what spaces are available for you to support your team mate, wheres the closest defender shutting you down from, where should you be if your team loses the ball right now, and so on. One of the best players to watch at this skill is Steven Gerrard
he is rarely out of position and never loses the ball by being surprised by a defender coming from behind. He always knows what his option are before he gets the ball this is one the biggest factors to contributing to having good field vision
